We are aware of the changes around us, but I don’t know if we truly see them. Changing weather patterns, more frequent occurrence of natural disasters, rising sea levels, and diseases mutating at never before experienced rates.
Sometimes we can’t comprehend the weight and toll of these events, because watching videos and seeing data on paper are hard to comprehend. We are removed. Numb?
There have been many Lessons from working our way through a global pandemic. My hope is one of those lessons is the evidence of the impact we have, as a species, on the planet and the other inhabitants we share it with. As we all sucked in, wildlife began to bloom. Populations rose. Things we have been responsible for removing from this planet reappeared. Beautiful things. Life.
I often contemplate how Man’s Ego will be its own demise. How bold and selfish of us to believe our species deserves more than any other species on the planet. How humans seek Power and Control above all else, and at virtually any cost.
We have many challenges ahead of us. Many Lessons to learn. Many things to acknowledge.
Sometimes looking at our own reflection is the hardest thing to see. There is only one Earth. We have choices to make.
We are not yet Out of the Woods.
